THE TELECOM MUSEUM
This is a collection of telegraph, telephone,
radio, artefacts photographs, technical books, papers & reports
representative of telecommunications from the 1840s towards the
present day.
The collection began in the 1930s in
Wellington by a number of people realising that history was being
lost. Items were placed in a variety of buildings occupied by the NZ
Post & Telegraph Department. In 1978 the museum became official &
had a staff of two curators.
At Corporatisation in 1986 the
collection was split between NZ Post, Banking & Telecom NZ.
